The main topics of interest to the organizers are: \vspace{.5cm} \begin{itemize} \item Curvature evolution of curves in the plane and on surfaces (M.Gage, R.Hamilton, S.Angenent, G.Huisken); \item Mean curvature flow: Asymptotic behavior of singularities (Huisken), evolution of entire graphs (Ecker-Huisken), convergence of Allen-Cahn's equation to Brakke's flow (T. Ilmanen); \item Center of mass of asymptotically flat spacetimes and foliations by spheres of constant mean curvature (Huisken-S.-T. Yau, R.Ye). \end{itemize} \vspace{.5cm} We welcome suggestions from the participants on additional recent work in this general area. Graduate students with an interest in p.d.e./geometry are encouraged to participate! Prerequisites are some experience with partial differential equations and some familiarity with basic differential geometry. \vspace{.5cm} TENTATIVE TIME AND PLACE: 3:30-4:30 Thursdays, Ayres 309A FIRST MEETING: September 4 \begin{flushright} Nick Alikakos\\ Alex Freire \end{flushright} \vspace{1cm} \begin{center} {\Large DIFFERENTIAL GEOMETRY SEMINAR}\\ Freire, Guan, Plaut \end{center} TENTATIVE TIME AND PLACE: 2:30-3:30 Fridays, Ayres 125 FIRST MEETING: September 5 \end{document}
