Carl Wagner (A.B., Princeton 1965, Ph.D., Duke 1969) is Professor of Mathematics and Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at the University of Tennessee. He is co-author with the philosopher Keith Lehrer of the book Rational Consensus in Science and Society (1981), as well as numerous papers on number theory, enumerative combinatorics, probability, and formal epistemology. His research in formal epistemology has been supported by seven grants from the National Science Foundation. He has been a fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University (1978-79), a visiting fellow in the departments of philosophy at Princeton (1990) and the University of Arizona (1991), and a fellow at the Center for Logic and the Philosophy of Science at Tilburg University (2008). In 2009 he received the James R. and Nell W. Cunningham Outstanding Teaching Award in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tennessee. His Erdos number is 2.
