          Office Hours: TR 2:10-2:30 and by arrangement (email me).
Course Objectives: Basic algorithms for: solving equations, linear systems, nonlinear systems, ODEs ;
                numerical differentation, integration; interpolation, approximation, optimization
NO required Textbook:   see Course Content   for several references.
Languages:  Matlab, Python, Julia, Fortran, C/C++   − your choice, get good in one (and try to learn a second one...)
Collaborations:  ok, but NO copying, must submit YOUR OWN work.
Computing Labs: will be posted on ASSIGNMENTS page. Submit promptly by due date
                (do NOT leave it for last moment... things can go wrong...)
HomeWork: on PAPER, will be collected in class on due date.
Quizes will be given periodically.
EXAMS:   Midterm: Thu Feb 29 (tentative) ,   FINAL:  Wed May 15, 3:30-5:30
NO MAKE-UP: If, due to unforeseen circumstances, you have to miss the Midterm, you must notify me
            before the exam and then your score on the Final will substitute the missing grade.
Final Exam will be comprehensive and can help you a lot: it will replace your midterm, if higher.
Course Grade = (40%) Labs + (20%) Quizes + (20%) Midterm + (20%) Final
    Standard scale (A ≥90, B ≥80, etc) will be used.
    Borderline cases will be decided on class participation, turning in work, and performance on Final.
Some suggestions for studying:
  • DO NOT hesitate to ask questions and seek help.
  • Do NOT miss class.
  • DO NOT fall behind; it is always very difficult to catch up.
  • Take notes in class, then rewrite/clean-up/fill-in and study the material at home.
  • Try to learn and understand, this is a VERY useful course, can get you a job...
  • Do not hesitate to came talk to me if you are facing difficulties.
