The specific topic of this project is up to you. It will require some research either on the web or in the library. You should work in groups of no less than 2 or no more than 3.
Find a paper, book chapter, or web page(s) that treat any application
of math to biology or ecology. You are to write a three page summary of
the topic which includes description of the biology or ecology of the
problem as well as its significance. You also need to explain the
mathematics involved in the analysis of the problem as well as the reasons
mathematics was particularly useful in tackling it.
OR
Choose a mathematical topic which applies to several biological examples.
Describe the mathematics and some of the applications of it.
The group will have 10
minutes to present this topic to the classeither through one
representative or as a group. The presentation should be
general and is intended as an introduction of the topic to your
classmates. The use of any audio/visual/technological aids is an
especially good idea here.
There are some books and articles on reserve in the library for your use.
