Please read the following information CAREFULLY before filling out this
application. Applications received by February 15, 2008 will receive first
consideration, but applications will continue to be considered until all
positions are filled. Students must be US citizens or permanent residents
to participate in the program in any way. Moreover, participants must

Please ask two mathematics professors to write letters of reference. We
are primarily interested in your ability to do mathematics at the highest
possible level, and your references should be chosen accordingly. Your
references should go to
"Reference Letter"
for more information on sending the letters electronically. To receive full
consideration, letters should be received no later than February 15, 2008.
Enter the name and college/university e-mail address for each of your
references in the form below.
It is the applicant's responsibility to be
sure that the reference letters have been sent by the deadline.
Before continuing with this application, be sure that you have
reviewed the REU projects so that you can list your first and
second choices. You should have available a list of college-level
math courses that you have taken and your grades in those
courses, as well as the names and e-mail addresses of your two
references. All participants are required to have taken
freshman/sophomore calculus, differential equations, and matrix or
linear algebra. A course involving proofs is preferred. For the algebra
projects, a course in modern or abstract algebra is preferred. Transcripts
for verification of courses and grades will be required from students
selected for the program. You will be asked to write a short statement
concerning your interest in this REU program, and you should have
this statement ready to cut and paste into the form below.
