To apply for admission to the graduate program, the following documents should be sent to: Graduate & International Admissions, 218 Student Services Building, The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN 37996-0220: (The admissions form is also available on-line from the UT Graduate Admissions website at on-line graduate admissions application. )
1. _____ the Graduate Application for Admission, submitted with the required thirty-five dollar ($35.00) application fee. (Consult the catalog, brochure or web site for deadlines),
2. _____ official transcripts from each college or university that you have attended, to be sent directly from those institutions, and
If you are an international applicant,
3. _____ an official report of your TOEFL score, to be sent directly by the
testing agency.
To apply for a graduate teaching assistantship in the Mathematics Department the following documents should be sent to: Assistantship Committee, Department of Mathematics, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN 37996-0612:
a. _____ the assistantship application form,
b. _____ transcripts (unofficial photocopies are acceptable) of your complete college and university work to date, and, if you are an international student, a photocopy of your TOEFL score,
c. _____ letters of recommendation from at least three of your professors commenting on your academic ability, your potential as a teaching assistant, and (if you are an international applicant) your fluency in English. We prefer to receive letters rather than the white Graduate Rating Forms, although the latter are acceptable.
While the Graduate Record Exams (GRE)are not required, we strongly encourage you to take these tests and furnish us with your scores. Scores on the advanced mathematics exam are particularly useful to us.
To maximize your chances of receiving an assistantship, you
should arrange
for the above materials to reach us by February 1, 2010.
