The University of Tennessee Mathematics Department is honored to announce a new fellowship, The Chancellor's Fellows. These fellowships are available for new graduate students entering the Mathematics PhD program fall 2014.
Each fellowship will provide a $20,000 stipend per year for the first 4 years of the program contingent upon normal progress in your graduate studies and satisfactory performance of assistantship duties. Funding is a combination of a graduate teaching assistantship and fellowship funds. Each Chancellor's Fellow will have a reduced teaching load during the first year of the fellowship. At the end of the 4-year award, if additional time is needed, fellows will continue at approximately the same rate. Each fellowship provides a tuition waiver, including summer semesters, and single coverage health insurance. Multiple fellowships will be awarded. Women and other members of groups underrepresented in mathematics graduate programs are especially encouraged to apply.
To apply for this fellowship please complete the standard admission/assistantship application available at http://graduateadmissions.utk.edu/. You will also need to upload a personal statement elaborating on your interest in pursuing a PhD in Mathematics at The University of Tennessee. At the top of the statement, please list Chancellor's Fellowship Statement, your name, email address, current or last attended university. Please keep your personal statement to 250 words or less (not including the heading).
