DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS COMPUTATIONAL MATHEMATICS SEMINAR
TIME:  3:35 – 4:30 p.m.
ROOM:  Ayres 309A

SPEAKER:  Dr. Dmitri Schebarchov
TITLE:  "Molecular Dynamics simulations of free and supported metal nanoparticles"
ABSTRACT: In this talk I'll give a brief introduction to Molecular Dynamics and then describe how we use it to study phase transitions in metal nanoparticles. In particular, the melting transition of free and substrate-supported clusters will be discussed, as well as various solid-solid transformations that could occur prior to complete melting. If time permits, I'll also present some of our recent results on capillary absorption of metal droplets by carbon nanotubes.
