TITLE: “Knot Theory from the seal of Lerna to Quandles and their homology”
ABSTRACT: Homology theory of associative structures like groups and rings has been zealously studied throughout the past starting from the work of Hopf, Eilenberg and Hochschild, but the non-associative structures, like quandles, were neglected till recently. After showing few early knots in art and science we will outline the history of quandles and their homology. Then we will present several new results in homology of Takasaki quandles. In particular, we prove that for the Takasaki quandle of an abelian group G, (a*b = 2b-a), the second homology of the quandle is equal to the exterior square of G (provided that order of G is odd).
