PROBABILITY SEMINAR
TIME: 3:35 – 4:25
ROOM: Ayres 122
SPEAKER: Professor K. Sinha, Jawaharlal Nehru of the Centre for Advanced Scientific Research and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India
TITLE: "Random Walks in Non-Commutative Probability"
ABSTRACT: In the Fock space over L2 (R+), the approximation of the four fundamental non-commutative (stochastic) increments by four spin-matrices are constructed and these are used to define a random walk as a *- homomorphism of an initial * - algebra A in to A ? B (Fock). Finally, it is shown that the walk converges strongly to a *- homomorphic flow.

ANALYSIS SEMINAR
TIME: 3:35 – 4:25
ROOM: Ayres 113
SPEAKER: Mr. Joseph White
TITLE: TBA
Friday, October 21, 2011
COLLOQUIUM
TIME: 3:35 – 4:25 pm
ROOM: Ayres 405
SPEAKER: Professor K. Sinha, Jawaharlal Nehru of the Centre for Advanced Scientific Research
TITLE: "An Introduction to Non-commutative Probability- Extension of Classical Theory"
ABSTRACT: A classical Markov Chain can be naturally embedded in a (non-commutative) super – structure and then non-commutative process in this structure can be developed. A continuous time stochastic process in these structures can be looked upon as a * - homomorphic flow on a *-algebra, containing the classical Brownian motion as well as Poison process in the same structure. These processes can be used to construct dilations of completely positive maps or semi-groups of such
maps on a * - algebra.
Refreshments will be available in Ayres 401 at 3:15 p.m.
