MATH 599--MATH PRESENTATIONS SEMINAR--SPRING 2021

HOW THIS SEMINAR WILL WORK:

The goal of this seminar is to hone your mathematical talk skills, especially with a view to job talks.

Each student will give two talks (on his/her area of dissertation work):

One will be a talk for a general audience, like a math colloquium. Ideally this should be a Beamer talk (online)

The other will be a seminar talk for a more specialized audience (also online).

Right after each talk, there will be a critique period by the audience, including me—point out to the speaker what you liked, and what needs improvement.

SCHEDULING: I will contact each student to get a date for the first talk (colloquium)

GRADING: each student must give two talks for a passing grade.
